Maritime Research Alliance works to facilitate research and educational collaboration between maritime researchers in Denmark and other actors. We do this in close collaboration with our partners. Below you can find examples on howe we work.
Entry point to Danish maritime research
MRA can help you get in contact with the right experts in the Danish maritime research community. Via our steering committee we have a very strong link to the maritime networks and centers at our member institutions. You can try to find the researchers yourself via our “find maritime researcher” app.
Project facilitation
MRA help facilitate research collaborations between maritime researchers and other actors. If someone at your organization (company, NGO, authority or other) has an idea for an interesting project feel free to reach out. We are usually very good at assembling teams. Among the projects facilitated in this way is the LASER (Large Scale Eelgrass Restauration) Project (with, DTU, SDU, AAU, KU, and Rohde Nielsen), Culture Lab (SDU and Hafnia), AI in Chartering (AAU, NORDEN, Lauritzen Bulkers, and Copenhagen Merchants).
Dissemination of maritime research
At the MRA we work to make the newest Danish maritime research visible to the world. We firmly believe that the knowledge we produce in academia can contribute to solving the major challenges the world is facing. You can a list of find previous and future dissemination events if you click “events” in the menu.
Joint educational initiatives
At MRA we coordinate joint educational initiatives across our member institutions and with other actors. Since 2024 we have organized a cross institutional course on “Decarbonization, energy efficiency, and new green solutions in shipping together with Danida Fellowship Centre and Danish Maritime Authority. The course included 7 educational institutions and 25 companies, NGOs, industry organizations and regulators.
National PhD network
Since 2020 MRA has gathered PhD fellows from our member institutions for seminars, company visits, guest lectures and social events four times per year. The aim is to support our young scholars establishing a network in the Danish maritime business and research community.
Case competitions MRA helps organizing case competitions together with Danish maritime companies. In 2023 we organized a case competition at Digital Tech Summit together with Mærsk and DFDS, and in the fall of 2024 we organized another case competition with DFDS for 45 students from CBS, University of British Columbia, and Chinese University of Hong Kong, Shenzhen.
