The Maritime Research Alliance invites you to attend a workshop titled “The Dark Side of Technology in Shipping – and How Can We Make It Brighter.”

The workshop will take place on 24 February 2026, from 12:00–16:00, at Copenhagen Business School, Dalgas Have 16, Frederiksberg, room DH.V.0.46.

The aim of the workshop is to foster reflective discussion on technology and digitalization in the maritime industry, with a particular focus on the implementation of new technologies on board vessels. The workshop will explore the possibilities, barriers, and consequences for safety and the working environment for those working at sea. In the development of new technologies and the excitement surrounding their potential, we sometimes forget that technology should add value to the people who use it in their daily work.

The workshop brings together experts from different fields who will introduce diverse perspectives on maritime technology and digitalization. Together, they will discuss potential impacts on safety and the working environment, and how negative consequences can be identified and minimized when introducing new technologies.
