The maritime research infrastructure is fairly well developed in Denmark. Almost all universities have their own networks or centers that facilitate maritime and marine research.
In April the MRA was delighted to participate in the launch of AAU BLUE – network of researchers at Aalborg University dedicated to topics related to the marine domain: coastal protection and engineering, fisheries, marine ecology, coastal communities, offshore wind energy and other marine-related renewable energy sources, maritime law, shipping, maritime technology, maritime history, underwater cameras and other technologies, port development, and much more.
The network serves as a gateway to the broad range of marine and maritime research activities at Aalborg University. Its aim is to promote interdisciplinary collaboration between researchers and research environments across different faculties and campuses, and to make the research environments and the research itself more accessible, relevant, and valuable to people, businesses, and organizations outside the university.
The network is headed by Troels Jacob Hegeland and consist of more than 60 researchers. You can find more info about AAU BLUE here: https://vbn.aau.dk/da/organisations/aau-blue-marine-maritime-research
