SHIPPINGLAB, MARITIME RESEARCH ALLIANCE, MARIKO AND GREEN SHIP OF THE FUTURE

DIFFERENT ROLES, SHARED DIRECTION

ShippingLab, Maritime Research Alliance (MRA), MARIKO and Green Ship of the Future (GSF) each play an important role in the Danish maritime innovation ecosystem. We operate in different parts of the value chain – from basic research to practice-oriented development, and testing close to operational deployment.

All four organisations are non-profit. We collaborate closely, and there are many areas of synergy between us. Among other things, we work together on:

Coordinating initiatives and the stakeholder landscape

Developing joint project ideas and partnerships

Conferences and professional events

Together, we create coherence, momentum, and professional strength in the maritime innovation landscape, ensuring that ideas and research are developed, matured, and put into play for the benefit of the entire Blue Denmark.

THE ORGANISATIONS IN SHORT

Maritime Research Alliance is a network organisation for Danish researchers at universities and public research institutions working with maritime research across disciplines. MRA promotes collaboration between academia and the maritime industry, strengthens Denmark’s maritime research capacity, and contributes knowledge to maritime solutions addressing global challenges in areas such as climate, technology, and sustainability.

ShippingLab is a collaborative project platform for maritime research, development, and innovation, bringing together the entire value chain in Blue Denmark – from shipowners and technology providers to researchers, startups, and public authorities. ShippingLab facilitates cross-sector collaboration and supports projects within, among others, digitalisation, decarbonisation, the green transition, and safety.

MARIKO, which originates from the Danish maritime educational institutions, works in close connection with the industry on applied research, competence development, and building bridges between education and business. MARIKO strengthens cooperation between education, industry, and knowledge environments and creates networks, programmes, and other initiatives that foster innovation and development in the Danish maritime sector.

Green Ship of the Future is a collaboration between maritime companies, research environments, and organisations focused on green solutions for the shipping industry. GSF acts as a strategic network and knowledge forum, creating space for idea development, technological sparring, and collaboration across the sector – with the aim of accelerating the green transition of shipping.
