Aarhus University shares the city of Aarhus with the biggest port in Denmark.

120 researchers at Aarhus University work with the maritime as a field of research - they are now featured in a database created by the AU Maritime Research Initiative (MRI). The AU MRI provides a platform for AU researchers to engage with each other, researchers elsewhere, and with partners in the maritime sector in Denmark and globally. The AU researchers aim to cultivate and produce interdisciplinary knowledge by combining all maritime and marine fields already flourishing at different departments.

What distinguishes AU MRI is that it was initiated from Global Studies and, therefore, integrates global perspectives in many collaborations.
