On the 8 November from 14:00 to 14:30, Maritime Research Alliance organized a conference session on how to use data to support commercial decisions in tramp segments. The session was part of the Digital Tech Summit 2023.
Collecting data is one thing. Using it is another. In the tanker and dry bulk segments many ships operate on short contracts. When a charterer fixes a ship, he/she needs to consider the laden/ballast ration while also securing that cargo is loaded in a market and a time where the freight rates are high. Furthermore, the charterer need to consider the vessels final position and its next potential voyage. Data-driven support for this process involves a multitude of data.
At this session experts from industry and academia discussed how different types of data can be to applied to support commercial decision making in shipping.
Program
